From the very beginning of a student’s journey at Gilmour, opportunities are presented outside of the traditional classroom. We offer multiple-day interdisciplinary experiences for our Lower and Middle School students; hands-on learning opportunities in our chicken coops, greenhouse, apiary, broadcast media studio or robotics lab; and the annual favorite - the Middle School Boat Float in our pool. Additionally, students in all divisions can participate in out-of-state immersion trips and off-campus experiential field trips. Upper School students can participate in international trips to places such as France and Costa Rica; the multi-year VECTOR program for those interested in pursuing a specific career field, which culminates in a Senior Capstone project; semester-long internships; or summer programs sourced by our Coordinator of Experiential Learning. And all seniors complete a Senior Project before graduating. Gilmour students are provided authentic, practical experiences. As such, our students develop critical problem-solving skills applicable in the real world, and our Upper School students leave with a highly developed professional network and a well-rounded portfolio of relevant work experience enabling them to stand out from their peers.

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our DEI program is focused on recognizing, embracing, celebrating and valuing that each member of our community is unique and that diversity is a highly valued principle of our school. The program champions DEI efforts throughout the school community and aims to create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard and valued. The program provides several co-curricular opportunities for students to get involved in as well. These include the Black Student Alliance, the Civic Engagement Team, the International Club, the Jewish Heritage Club, the Lancer Alliance, Neurodiversity Club and the Pan-Asian Heritage Alliance.
  • LancerTech

Our state-of-the-art facilities and curricula are at the vanguard of technology education. Students have the opportunity to take programming, robotics, digital media, web design and app development, and 2D and 3D game design. They have access to Gilmour’s cutting-edge Fab Lab, where they can work with industry-standard laser cutters, mills and 3D printers to build whatever the mind can imagine.
  • Nature-Based Learning

Our campuswide program has turned our 144-acre campus into a learning laboratory featuring a greenhouse; forest, field and pond habitats; an apiary and gardens. Together with sustainability initiatives across all divisions and new course offerings in environmental science, the facilities and programming serve to foster a deep sense of environmental appreciation, consciousness and social responsibility.
  • Performing Arts

Gilmour offers many opportunities for students in all three divisions to discover and express their unique voices. Along with our diverse courses and extracurricular opportunities in vocal music, drama, speech and debate, theater and band, Gilmour is proud to be designated a Steinway Select School, in partnership with Piano Cleveland and Great Lakes Theater, and home to the Encore Chamber Music Festival and Institute.
  • Wellness
