    MC Networking Breakfast

    Tudor Lounge
All men and women of the Gilmour community are invited to join us for the Gilmour Academy Networking Breakfasts.

This month’s networking breakfast speaker is David Corvi ’03. Through David’s presentation, “Making Meaning After Loss,” he will share his personal journey of how he faced the tragic loss of his son and how he wants his story to help others.

On October 26, 2021, Charles Martin Corvi was stillborn, just 15 days shy of his due date. When he should have been taking his first steps, opening his Christmas presents, and playing with his older brothers, Charlie’s absence instead left an emptiness full of heartache. Charlie is not here to tell his story, so his parents decided they must do it for him.

Dear Charlie… is a poignant collection of letters written by David throughout the year following Charlie’s death. It is a father’s expression of never-ending love and a tribute to the son who will never grow up.

The letters serve as a record of the impact Charlie had on his family and as a celebration of how he has continued to touch the world. In this moving story, David teaches readers how to:
    • grapple with a complex tapestry of emotions, including anger at life lost mixed with joy for the legacy that endures
    • navigate the complexities of grief, mourning the experiences that will never get to be shared
    • learn to move forward in a loved one’s absence while honoring their impact on your life.
    • To honor Charlie, David and his wife, Katherine, founded the Charles Martin Corvi Fund. Charlie’s fund supports families who’ve also experienced pregnancy or infant loss through forms of advocacy, research, grief support and remembrance.
To learn more about how you can support pregnancy and infant loss, visit charlesmartincorvi.org. A percentage of the Dear Charlie… profits will go toward the Charles Martin Corvi Fund.

David has spent the past 15+ years as an educational leader in some of our nation's most underserved and disadvantaged communities. During those years, he served as a teacher, athletic coach, dean, principal and consultant. Currently, David is a leadership coach for Lynch Leadership Academy out of Boston College, where he provides professional training and executive coaching to aspiring and sitting school administrators. As a Teach For America alum, David remains committed to the movement of educational equity in our nation, believing this is currently our most pressing social issue.

David is also an avid rock climber, skier and hiker. He is an assistant coach for the GA boys soccer team. David resides in Hudson, Ohio with his wife, three living boys, and Charlie. His brother is Ernie Corvi ’02 and his sister-in-law is Andrea Pinchak Corvi ’02.

Dear Charlie…Letters to My Son is available everywhere books are sold.
