Fall 2024 Cum Laude Ceremony

On Tuesday, we welcomed 13 seniors to the Cum Laude Society. These students finished last semester in the top tenth of their class and demonstrate the Society's tenets of areté (excellence), diké (justice) and timé (honor). Congratulations to Aubrey Anders '25, Vincent D'Angelo '25, Madelyn Donnelly '25, Liam Flynn '25,  Anna Johannessen '25, Lauren Ludlow '25, Aisling McFadden '25, Ian Miller '25,  John Overman '25, Luke Peterson '25, Carter Richmond '25, Addison Wagner '25 and Ziyan Zhao '25.

After receiving their Cum Laude Society pins and certificates, students were inspired by Doug Tayek ’00, who currently serves as the advisor for curriculum design at AARP Turnkey Programs, and also serves as an assistant coach on GA’s varsity hockey team. Doug shared powerful words of wisdom, congratulating the inductees on their accomplishments, but reminding them that there is more work to be done and that the world needs leaders like them.

He emphasized that while this is a remarkable achievement, it is far from their final one. Doug challenged not only the inductees, but all in attendance to uphold the tenets of the Cum Laude Society, which align with the Gilmour Mission, as they work to make the world a better place.

He shared, “Your success is not solely defined by individual achievement and personal gain, but by how your contributions address inequity and injustice, how you advocate for change, and how you stand up for what’s right.”

Thank you Doug for taking the time to share your reflections with our community!
