RENOVATIONS
Figgie Field House was constructed in 1983 and dedicated to the memory of Harry E. Figgie, Sr. in 1985. Harry E. Figgie, Sr., grandfather of Matthew P. Figgie ’84 and Mark P. Figgie ’74, felt that athletics was an essential part of formal education. At the time, the field house provided Gilmour with an outstanding athletic facility.  Figgie Field House was built to provide extra space for gym classes and team practices. The basketball courts could be converted from basketball courts to indoor tennis or volleyball courts. An indoor track was built around the perimeter as well.

With the needs and safety of our student-athletes in mind, our plans for our athletics facilities' renovation projects encompass critical athletic facility improvements. The campaign, called "Ensure a Bright Future for Lancer Athletics," supports several projects, including renovations to Figgie Field House. The proposed renovations include:
  • resurfacing and restriping of the courts and track lanes
  • upgrading one court to hardwood
  • replacing aging basketball hoops and mechanical apparati
  • Installing retractable nets for batting cages
  • installing new scoreboards
  • replacing retractable court dividers
  • patching and painting walls
  • repairing roof
  • updating HVAC system
