Spotlight on the Courtney Jones Care and Cure Foundation
During Catholic Schools Week, our community came together to support the Courtney Jones Care and Cure Foundation in honor of Black History Month. Chosen by the Black Student Alliance in honor of Black History Month, our Gilmour Gives Dress-Down Day fundraiser was a great success, raising money to support children battling pediatric cancer.
We were honored to welcome Alisha Jones, executive director of the foundation, who shared the story of her daughter, Courtney Jones, who lost her battle with lymphoma in sixth grade. Courtney would have been 18, and her legacy continues through the foundation’s mission.
Funds raised provide hospital stay essentials, electronics, games, clothing, gift cards, and group meals for pediatric cancer patients and their families. The foundation also supports pediatric cancer research through Case Western Reserve University’s Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, funding the Courtney Jones Cancer Research Clinical Fellow and student research programs. To date, they have contributed more than $55,000 to these efforts.
Our school is proud to support this cause, bringing hope to young cancer patients and advancing research for a cure. Thank you to everyone who participated!
