Funds raised from our golf outing this year will benefit our hockey teams and players. These funds give us the ability to do a play-by-play for some home games and a few select away games. They provide additional support for our coaches when their teams have specific needs as determined by our Hockey Director Coach Mike Chiellino.

The first Happy Gilmour outing was in 2002. We were looking for a way to raise some much-needed funds for the hockey program for "outside of the budget" hockey needs. Dave Wagner, a GA hockey parent, suggested a golf outing.
Dr. Curtis Smith was the father of Brandon '05 and Jarred Smith '06 and served as our unofficial team doctor while his boys were in the program. Curtis and his wife, Cindy, opened their home as a gathering place for the prep team and many of our dormers stayed with them in the summer so they could train at Gilmour.
When Curtis died of a heart attack in 2008 while playing golf, we changed the name of the outing to "Happy Gilmour" Dr. Curtis Smith Memorial Golf Scramble, in recognition of all that he meant to the hockey program.

Sponsor a team meal. These funds will allow the players and coaches a chance to organize a night out before or after a game. This is a great way to build team spirit and camaraderie.

Support team spirit by making a gift wherein the head coach can determine the best use of the funds to help build team spirit and unity. As an example, a coach might want to order team t-shirts or to organize a special night out for the team to bond. This is a great way to support the teams.

Examples of items that would be great for the golfer gifts and/or for the raffle: golf balls, golf gloves, t-shirts, rounds of golf, bottles of wine or other spirits, restaurant gift cards, hockey sticks, hockey jerseys, gift certificates, etc. (anything that we can use as part of the raffle or a gift for our golfers).
